Strange Crystal - v3

Strange Crystal, by Michael Scharrer, rendered with POV-Ray. A strange crystal with perfectly right angled edges. It is constructed by taking the set union of 40 randomly rotated cubes. And yet, it looks rather natural. In order to make the Scene more interesting, this basic crystal then has a chunk cut out and placed in front of it. This is also done with rather simple constructive solid geometry. The illusion of wavelength dependent caustics is created using multiple colored lights at different locations. The glimmer, whicht lends this piece the desired crystal-like appearence is caused by the repeated refraction of light on the object surface. There is a newer version availible. This is version 3 out of 4.
